WEN 33075 benchtop mill Conversion Kit


This machine is comparable to the PM-25 M and the Grizzly G0704 in size. However, due to the geometry of the column casting mounting the Z-axis stepper is a challenge. We used NEMA 34 steppers on the X and Y-axis. We mounted a NEMA 23 stepper on the column feed shaft that came with the machine and used the rack and pinion gearing to move the Z. To our surprise, it was very smooth and had very little backlash.

While mounting the Z-axis stepper motor can be tricky, given the shape of the column casting on the milling machine, you can mount the motor without any hassle by simply following user instructions. 


One of the biggest tasks during CNC conversion is eliminating backlash, even if the milling machine has to run extensively or mill large workpieces. For the Wen33075 benchtop mill CNC conversion kit, we recommend a NEMA 23 stepper motor on the column feed and NEMA 34 stepper motors on the X and Y axes, as it brings about smooth machining and reduces backlash significantly.
