The Sieg X2D sold by The Little Machine Shop is very close to the X2. In fact, the conversion kit is the same except the table end plates are wider due to the bigger table and the ball screws are longer due to the extended travel on the X2D. The CNC Conversions Plus Sieg X2D kit is the only true “bolt-on” kit on the market. You needn’t drill any additional holes or enlarge existing holes. All bearings (where possible) have grease fittings. The Z axis mounts to the center of the head placing the center of gravity where it belongs, in the center. This greatly reduces drag on the Z axis stepper motor and eliminates stalling.
The conversion kit includes:

Grizzly G9972Z Lathe Conversion Kit
Although the images and data that follow are for the G9972Z, the same concept can be used on virtually any benchtop lathe. Additional holes are required to be drilled and tapped and some modification on the X axis cross-slide is required. You will need access to a milling machine or local machine shop.
